How Much Does Lasik Cost?
Refractive error, when light does not focus clearly inside the eye, causes blurry vision for millions of people. Lasik can correct your refractive error in less than half an hour. One treatment can minimize and even liberate you from the expense and annoyance of glasses or contact lenses.
What is Lasik?
Lasik stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileuses. The laser reshapes the cornea, the clear structure at the front of the eye, and changes the angle of light as it enters. The light focuses on the retina at the correct angle for people with clear vision. For people with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, the light does not focus clearly, resulting in blurred vision. Lasik adjusts the angle of light entering the eye, focusing properly onto the retina and giving you clear vision.

How Much Does Lasik Cost?
Lasik costs vary by provider and where they are located as well as other factors. WebMD reports that Lasik usually costs between $2000 and $3000 per eye. While this seems expensive, Alabata Eye Center offers payment plans if needed to assist you with achieving a better vision. You will also continue to save money for years without the expense of replacing corrective lenses.
How Does Lasik Work?
Dr. Alabata will comfort your eyes with anesthetic drops before the procedure. A femtosecond laser is programmed to create a small circular flap through the outer part of the cornea. This flap remains attached to the cornea so it can heal quickly when positioned back in place. Dr. Alabata then uses a precision excimer laser to remove microscopically thin layers of the cornea to reshape it. This process may take between twenty to thirty minutes. When the flap has been repositioned, it starts to heal right away. Within minutes it has adhered to the rest of the cornea.

What is Recovery Like From Lasik?
When you leave the procedure, you will have a blurry vision which starts to improve within 24 hours. Most people can go back to work within 24 to 48 hours and can even drive. The flap will continue to heal, so you will need to protect your eyes from dust or debris that could irritate them. Vision may continue to improve for up to six months after your treatment.
